In 2000 with Alden Wiswall Lee. Alden was Jack's housemate on Houston St. from 1999 to 2001. He was soft-spoken, funny, and incredibly smart, and kindly let Jack mooch off him quite a bit. Shortly before they parted ways, Jack told Alden he would name the hero of one of his movies after him. Years later, when Jack wrote himself the quiet role in FOOL, he took his inspiration (and name) from Alden Lee. The character in FOOL is not that much like the real Alden, but when those similarities do occur, it's a tribute to a well-remembered figure from the past.
